I purchased 1 1/2 inch aluminum square tube and when I stood on the platform the aluminum post caved in behind the stopping screw. What type of post are you guys using or what grade aluminum?

Definitely need 6061 aluminum and you can rivet a small piece of steel to it for reinforcement.

I made a custom bracket system, so I could only use 1" square. Most seem to use the 1/8" wall thickness, I opted for the 3/16." Extremely minimal as far as how much weight it added and very robust. @BCHunter is right, some sort of reinforcement under the leveling bolt is good. I used the LW stop that ordinarily comes on a hang on, but will probably have to beef it up eventually.

In that scenario the 1.5" may have actually hurt you. That larger face is a little less stiff than a 1" face i would think. If the dent is only the size of the leveling bolt head, then the size is probably irrelevant. I would just epoxy a piece of steel onto it to reinforce.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not sure if it's 6061. I'll check the receipt to verify. I had two of the post cut to size so I may just drill holes and start over and than epoxy the reinforcement underneath the bolt.

Looks like it was 6063 not 6061

Not to advertise, but I heard of a guy selling DoubleSteps that might start stocking posts for platforms as well. The online prices are great but they gouge you for shipping - trying to come up with a more fair price.
