This is a 2 piece system all materials are 1/4”. Base straps too tree then plate is inserted into slot and strapped. Weight is 6lbs. This is my first DIY platform. What y’all think? Just trying to think outside the box.

does the plate just slide into the base? might want to find a way to attach the 2 of them so the plate doesnt slide out on you.

Yes plate slides in and tabs are welded to the bottom for side pressure. Also the plate will strap around tree.

I'd cut some teeth into the two parallel rails that'll bite the tree. I think it'll be difficult to get it solid and stable because the bottom will likely wanna roll out under pressure.

Are the holes in the plate intended to attach a ratchet strap or something? That would stabilize it some and keep the plate in place.

I would just use the two holes in your plate to ratchet to tree. No need for versabutton. Also, you could have slotted the plate to slide into the base and not need to weld the tabs in. It would be real simple and no way for it to slide around. All you would need is a saw to make that happen.

Yes I will cut some teeth in the base and the holes in the plate are for another ratchet strap. I put it on a tree today and teeth are gonna be a improvement.

If you made a versa button for the right and left side of the base, instead of the center one you'd probably be able to drag it up a tree and kind of cam it down, similar to a podium from OOAL. That would get the base nice and secure and you could potentials just use a cam buckle strap so set the platform into the base.

I didn't think that versabuttons were made to only have force on 1 side which is what you would have with 2. With only 1 versabutton, the force pulled to each side pretty well cancels each other out.

True. Then a post, similar to what is actually on the podium would work better than the centered versa button.

The versa button that is on it is a grade 8, 1/2”x 2 1/2”. I don’t think my big rear end can break it. Wait it is the Holiday season. Nomocookiesfoyou!!!

I’m liking that idea. It would also have more side structure. Right now it has 1” from gap to back. Your idea would give 2 3/4” from slot to back.

I can see this idea working on pre sets. Way to think out side the box!
Pre sets would be easy. One plate and a bunch of bases. At 6lbs it’s a lot better than the 40 I carry now. I’m sick of being a bull in a china shop!

So easy! I might do something similar for my presets.
