And also, does this design handle side pressure well? Or does it try to kick out on you?

Once it's on tight, it's solid. I often find myself rotating around the tree and can easily stand 90 off on this. I hook the heels of my boot over the edge and lean back into my saddle.

My post is 14.5" long with the seat bolt at 1.75" and the button at 9.5" from the bottom.

Awesome, what I end up with will NOT look as good nor as professional as yours, but hopefully it will work ha, that’s the important part anyways ha

I've been playing around with replacing the button with a rope cleat. So far, I'm really happy with the results.

I really like that a lot, do you cam lock it with your weight on it? Like a hang on?

Hey Ernie are those 10/24 bolts? Mine on my muddys are drilled and tapped through with 1/4 -20. Can you send me pics of the back before you bolt them on? Mine done have a base on them either as yours appear to?

Yep, they are 10-24. I tried to use the muddy cleat, but you will notice that if you remove a set that the post is special machined with a curved slot.

It took me forever to find a set of cleats on a base.

I'm going to go buy a couple more today and I'll post a picture. I wish they were cheaper, ($30) but pay once, cry once.....

The nuts are inside the post, but that required me to drill a pretty large hole to use a socket.

I hope to find some longer bolts to be able to put the nut on the other side

Ernie can you please provide the specs on the aluminum tube, as well as the manufacturer of the platform?

Sure thing. This one is 1.5" x 1" x 1/8" 60-61 t6 aluminum.

The platform is trickier. It's the seat from an old lone wolf stand

Ernie does that same size tubing work with the XOP seat, and would you recommend the LW or XOP tree brackets?

When you refer to XOP being better, are you referring to the 6 point brackets that are sold on the hang on stands, or the climbing stick brackets?

The 6 point brackets. They are the best brackets I've seen yet.

I see no adjustment "bolt" to accommodate a leaning tree like the XOP has. Any concern there Ernie?

it hasnt been a problem but i tend to pick straight sections of trees to set up in

Thanks. I have a LW in a tree on a lease I hunted that grew in to the tree. I think I'll take my climbing stix out after the first of the year and try to salvage the seat at least. Stay tuned! ;)

Is there a need to press a bushing in on this style platforms. I’m going to add a bar to my xop hand climber, so it will be of the same design
