I'm planning on moving to Seattle for work near the end of the year, there are some national forests like the Olympic forest within a few hours drive that hold blacktail. Anyone have success saddle hunting blacktail, or is it always more of a ground game?

Dont know where you are moving from but having gone out there back in October for a work conference, all I can say is I'm sorry.

What the heck are you talking about. Them things gotta be easy to kill. @tailgunner just showed us pics of him walking right up to them and they don't even run off. :tearsofjoy:
Blacktail does are not the same speciese as mature blacktail bucks.blacktail bucks are closely related to sasquach

It is traditionaly à. Cover steep ground game.when they say run n gun they mean bust it out of its bed and gun it down while its runing.or geting out of your truck in the rain and running 80 yards into the brush to stop and shoot.just gets lost in translating eastcoast to west coast.back east i hear that run n gun means slowly carying fold up picnic tables and scafolding to the corner of the feild.so i dont know any more.

Jokin aside you will love the Olympic rang..it is so pretty.it rises strait up out of the ocean to the snow.port angels gets the most 70 degrea days and least rain in washington.and i have seen mature bucks there during the day.on my first day.also heroin feinds.the steeper the beter.or its to hard to find pinchpoints.they are Billy goats that have free range.and live in abundance they dont need to travel.and down low will swim across the willamette river.they are just known for being skittish and nocturnal.you are in for some fun.its good hunting there.and so pretty.you can watch bald Eagles soar over the sound while you fish for salmon.merca!!!!

My wife is doing a 10 year highschool reunion in august this year. Would I be able to hunt deer or elk during that time period? You know know anything about out of state requirements for oregon?

Not sure the are setting the seasons back 1 week this year.early archery deer and elk typically start at the end of August. The tags are spendy and hard to fill but it can realy be an adventure.

Cant say that I would want to live in south texas either but would choose it a thousand times out of a hundred over what I saw where you are headed. Hopefully you will find some great areas to hunt and spend time so you can get away from town.

As a truck driver my dad say Seattle is the worst traffic in all the states.add that to our progressive only for gangmember palocies.crammed into a metropalis open air concentration camp for marshmellow soft unarmed coolaid haired people in the wild west .....and yeah....stick to the small towns out in the réal world.
