PNW blacktail?

Man you guys sure are painting a doom and gloom picture of the cities out there. My brother lived in Washington state for a while before moving to Alaska, I'd visited for a few days at a time a few years ago and the cities didn't seem that different from any other major metropolis. Yes there's been quite the influx of broverlanders and the super rich, but in my anecdotal experience it was still possible to live a pretty normal life surrounded by people that are different, even in/close to the city. I dunno, not trying to be preachy because I obviously don't live there, I've got my own interesting mix over here in the suburbs of Washington DC, what am I missing, have the changes taken off at some exponential rate in the last 2-3 years? Feel free to PM as this has nothing to do with OP's blacktail interest.

I mean if folks selling a dozen different varieties of weed out of tupperware containers displayed on the hood of the cars parked along the sidewalks is normal for your area, you might feel right at home. I wont get into the other societal observations.

Normal enough yeah, I'm just surprised they are wasting money on Tupperware ;) . I've lived in cities my entire life before moving to the burbs 6 years ago. Don't want to keep going off topic, just wanted to fact check my experience vs what you're saying. Seems like it has a hefty dose of personal opinion, which is fine, I'm not challenging that. People talk about going to Baltimore or in to DC the same way and I have no issue going anywhere in those cities at any time.

But to return to the blacktail pursuits- I've been after them once in Alaska. Very wet experience. Per my brother (though he is not very experienced, @tailgunner is this garbage advice?) They seem to be even more crepuscular than whitetail, waiting to move in the last 10 min of light on edges/transitions, if whitetail would move in the last hour. Obviously they both move to a degree in daylight but that's what he's said.

I saw my first trans am in Seattle, wasn’t sure the year make and model though, I don’t know that much about cars

I live in a high hunting présure area.the deer hear nothing but deisel logtrucks in the distance all year long and then opening day there are gass powered vehicles driving to every landing and all over.its a huge culture shock.they are not stupid mature bucks are only alive because they go nocturnal for 2 months.it seems to me i have maybe about 4 chances of seeing during the day.if i hapen to be there on those days then mostly lastlight.the farther out you get the braver they are.still its rare that they live past six.my best freind sees huge bucks at 2 in the afternoon atleast 1 or 2 times yearly and consistantly where he hunts.but they are always looking at him.so he hasnt hatvested one yet..its harder for me just to see one and beleive its even real.

That is pretty much right at home for me.

I’d suggest getting a modern firearms tag and hunt the rut. Look for the big ones to chase does out into clear cuts. It’s a jungle out here and as little as they move you’d have to climb a tree over their bed. Plus, you can focus on elk while they’re rutting during archery season. That’s the biggest lesson I learned, at least for myself, from my first year/season out here. I did shoot a spike in late December from a tree though but I thought it was a doe so it’s possible. Only movement I saw from mature bucks in daylight was during the rut mid November timeframe but I had an archery tag. I got some good ones on camera during that time. Try and get a multiseason tag for deer too, might draw one and get more options.

So does a blacktail tag bought for archery only cover archery season and not extend to MR?
