Ok,

Next question! We're practicing every day. We have our bow in tune. Whatever procedure, sequence, schedule, prayers, you need to do, you're doing.

It's been 24 hours since your last shooting session. I offer the exact same bet, challenge, etc. as in the 3 months off poll.

How far are you willing to shoot now?

I've eliminated 10 yards. If you aren't willing to put skin in the game for a 10 yard shot after lots of practice, you might consider a new hobby...

I was 20 on the first poll and 30 on this one.

I've only been shooting for 2 years, and pressure gets to you more than you think, for now, 30 is where I'm at.

Still 20. I set up my own bow and it lives in a closet the wife never enters in a kid-free home. I've shot enough over the past 20 years that I'm not getting any worse or better really. It's not the gear or practice. It's the pressure. And the fact that OP has seen me shoot and would call shennanigans if I lied. ;)

I'd put money on 80 but nothing past that.

I practice cold for the most part and only let a few rip every time I shoot. I practice at 60 and usually 3rd shot I will send to 80 with no issues. I shot at 100 back in April with a slight cross wind and was still holding 12"-14" grouping. The SpotHogg makes a huge difference for me combined with balanced arrows and a tuned bow.

Now would I shoot at a deer at those ranges? No. But practicing at long range makes 40 a chip shot. (My reasoning for those of you that will attack this post per usual.)

Been shooting compound for 21 years now.

50 yards all day. Since I went to a little heavier arrow set up im about maxed out at 50-60 on my normal pin set up.

When I first started bow hunting a couple years back I was shocked to see so many 12” and 6” groups at 20-30 yards at the target range and then hear those same guys talking about going bow hunting. I lived right next to the range and was shooting everyday. Most of the guys would show up a week or a few days before hunting season. Lots of those guys didn’t know how to set up pins or correct minor form issues but were content to hunt that way.

Maybe they are better under pressure. Everything changes for the worse at game time for me. Not usually nerves as it is other external factors that cause me to deviate from form or routine in the moment.

20 on the first, 40 on this one….. not a gambler. Those longer shots are fun to make & I’ll take an 80-90 yd poke on the 3d course for fun but not for a 1k buy in

That’s the idea! I’m trying to use the most reliable and precise way of measuring people’s confidence in a thing - skin in the game.

we’re looking for the I KNOW I’ll make the shot distance, not the it would be fun if I make the shot distance, or I’ll get out of my comfort zone distance.

Only reason I say 60 yrds is because I've had a 60 yard pin forever. I run 3 pins since I was a teenager, a 0 to 28, a 35 ( give or take) and a 60 just to pierce the deer targets ear at ground level. So if I shot a little more I'm sure I could still do that. Three weeks ago I popped a softball sized balloon at 60 twice....My bow is a 2003 Ultralite 31.

I said 60. Last year I was very diligent and deliberate with my practice as I got ready for archery elk. I wanted to be effective to 60 yards, so I practiced regularly at 80. My first shots of every practice session the month before the hunt were at 80 or more.

All that said, I had the range wrong when shot time came and shot right over a cow's back . I thought she was at 40 yards. She was under 30. Huge animals. I hit a grouse perfectly at 20 two days before that...

103 yards. Cold bow first and only shot, fixed pin site. I won’t hunt at the distance but I shoot it a lot for practice.865F6547-F438-4861-B02A-2403E0EDA27B.jpeg
