I hunt the same tree on a small private tract. The deer funnel through the swamp and the prevailing wind direction is perfect. There's a ladder stand which I sit in during general gun but in archery I hang my saddle above the stand which gets me about 5' higher. If I chose another tree I'd be disturbing the deer trail which is a no-no for me.

I'm there so often I get Amazon prime delivered as well lol.

I hunt the same tree from time to time around food plots but always when i get a good wind for the tree If I don’t get the wind I don’t hunt there But more often than not i hunt different trees

Most times I will only hunt a tree once. Some trees I will hunt once early-season, once mid-season, and once late season. I have a couple of trees that I can get by with multiple sets because of great access.

Setting stands and prepping trees takes some time and energy. Since my hunting time comes after work, wife, daughters, and church. I feel 2 or 3 hunts over a 14 week season is reasonable. ( as long as I'm not stinking it up or blowing deer out)

Historically my family has hunted the same pre-set stands year after year often up to 10 sits per stand easy. I haven't been happy with the results. This year I've started to run and gun to try and get more mature deer. I actually hung a new stand for my dad in a new spot, the first time he hunted it he missed a good buck. Its the biggest buck my family has had a shot at in a few years. Now I'm switching to a saddle and plan on moving often.

I rarely sit the same tree twice. Now the same area I may go to several times depending on the situation. For instance, I have one area that I hunted this past season that I frequently saw deer in. I sat the same area 3 days in a row, each sit I saw deer. I tried to keep a close watch as to where they entered and exited each time. Every sit I moved closer and closer to position myself to where I would have a clear shooting lane. Finally, on the third day I had 4 does walk within 10 yds of me. I had already killed a doe about 3 weeks prior to that and during this time and hadn't hunted this area all year so I opted to pass in hopes of a buck. Situations like this I may hang around in the same area for a few hunts if conditions are right. Most cases if I go into an area and I see little to no movement after a sit or two I'm packing up and heading somewhere else. 90% of my areas are big woods.

I've hunted stands as many as ten times a season often seeing does almost every time. If you are a m eat hunter then thats great, but the issue taht comes with pressuring a spot that much is that you'll rarely see a mature buck in daylight. They know you've been in there. Not saying it's wrong because i do the same thing, just something i have been learning even though i see deer.

Keep the responses coming ! I think everyone took this poll to the argument of whether or not hunting a “spot” multiple times in a season decreases your odds of success.

I wasn’t thinking in terms of hunting success or strategy. I just wanted to know how often people hunt the exact same tree, not the same spot/area, and the effect that has on deer. I was more interested in the use of the same tree multiple times for technical reasons.

Having said that, keep it rolling. But if having a different understanding of my question brings up a new thought, please share!

I agree with you. 2 days prior to that I was meat hunting. On my third day I had to work that night so since I already wasn't going to get much sleep that day I had only planned to hunt that morning. It was gonna take a good buck to keep me up all day. But yes I agree big bucks catch on very quickly. Repeatedly going in and out of a spot will do nothing but educate him and ruin your chances.

I will do it multiple times aslong as I havnt screwed it up, and I'm still seeing daylight sign on cameras. Last year I ruined a spot I was seeing 2 nice bucks at frequently but not waiting long enough after dark to sneak out and jumped them.

I have one stand that I hunt 3-5 times a year. Access is down a creek and you scent almost always gets sucked down the creek regardless of wind direction. The creek is along the base of a cliff that is about 3/4 of a mile long so it acts as a funnel as deer travel near the creek to get around the cliff. Add a small clover plot and it produces all year. I shot what would have been my oldest buck last year in early November on my 3rd sit. Unfortunately, it didn't work out like I hoped.

I chose 1-5. It all depends on entry and exit. Some trees you can get away with several hunts, some not so much. I hate to burn an area out. If I can move even 100 yards it can completely change things.

As a friend explained to me, switch it up, you can hunt the same area, just choose a tree that is at least 50 yards away from the previous sit, play the wind and only hunt the area's you can get into without blowing your spot. Trying to adopt these principals, saw more deer last year than I ever have before.
