I try to stay 20 yards and in at that range the deer is going nowhere but down most are taken at 10 to 15 yards I range trees to know the magic circle of death.
 
I range objects. My height changes every hunt as does the landscape every hunt. I feel more confidence knowing exact ranges.
 
I range nearly every deer that I take a shot at unless it’s obviously on my first pin. I’m using the “dead on range finder” though so I’m ranging at full draw or just before draw...
