Possibly stupidest idea/question ever...

So I have a set of the LWCG mini sticks and recently switched to the Tethrd mini versa straps. So far I love it. I used 1/4” inside diameter rubber tubing on the bolts for wrapping my straps around for storage. Now, I wonder has any company ever thought about building something similar? Something such as a threaded metal sleeve that maybe has a footer of some style on the end to contain the straps even better? I am in the Air Force and know NOTHING about working with metal or I would try.
I know that this will slightly limit trees that can be climbed but so far I have had zero issues. Any help or ideas on where I could buy or if this even is a thing would be awesome.

If there was a a screw on cap with a footer/washer on the threaded portion of the bolt for the stand offs/steps they would be perfect for wrapping straps, rope, Amsteel, almost anything that doesn’t have a buckle. I was just unsure if anyone already made these before I approached a metal shop about building them for me.

Idk what you’re talking about either but I agree. Seems like no one in the climbing stick business has ever put any thought into how straps pack up.

You could buy aluminum sleeves, longer bolts, and washers to make something like that
Ah, okay. Was just hoping that there was an easy fix. I know sites like EWO have a ton of awesome stuff like this, didn’t know if maybe someone who had the skills already made them where it was as simple as Using Apple Pay

I got it, he’s wrapping the strap around the standoff bolt. He put a piece of tube around the bolt so the threads don’t catch the fabric.

Good idea, dunno of a commercial option for it.

In general I think vendors don’t put too much thought in how the straps pack.

Sorry, I'm with Ricky.
Gonna do my best here guys I promise.

if you look at the sticks the bolt that goes through the step/standoff has about 3/4” of threaded bolt past the nut on the standoff side. IF there was a threaded sleeve with any kind of footer/ or a 1/2” washer the straps would pack very neatly on the sticks. In my photos you can see how I wrapped on the bolts. In the closeup photo there is a rubber tube on the thread of the bolt that I am going around. That is the thread/bolt I am talking about.

Here is a thought...

Your straps are 3/4”? Get a bolt (grade 8) that is at least 1” longer than the one there now. Find a 3/4” spacer that fits over the bolt (or tubing). Put a washer over that and finish with a locknut.

I wonder if extending the bolt will interfere with mounting the sticks but this should keep the straps neat.

Google “Cap nuts for connector bolts”. I think that is what you are talking about? You may not be able to find the diameter/length combination you are looking for. The DIY post above is probably the best suggestion.
