Looking for opinions on this here....

I like a platform but also like a ROS, so looking to capture the best of both worlds here.

The yellow line represents a bolt to hook a lone wolf strap to like in the "Ditched the button" topic (dont know how to put the link for the thread in or I would....)

The strap would have 3 steps on it like a ROS. My thought is when you cam the Predator down, it would tighten the strap down to keep the steps solid.

My reasoning for wanting to do this is I like to sit 75% and lean 25%. But I like shooting off the Predator vs a ROS. I already have the LW strap, and if this would work I wouldnt need to deal with a ratchet or OCB.

Am I right with this thought? Any comment/recomendations are greatly appreciated.

I put 2 ameristep on the predator strap. I place one at about 9 o'clock and one at 3. Makes it a lot more comfortable and easier to maneuver. More care is required noise wise when setting up though.

I have been primarily single stick climbing this year and I have been leaving the stick at the 4 to 5 o'clock position on the tree with respect to my predator. This allows me to step almost all the way around the tree in a clockwise direction while using the predator as my primary foot placement.

Boy unless it's a huge tree, I don't see a reason for extra steps. In theory I guess what you suggested would work. Close platform and tighten strap, then cam it open. However be sure your not over loading the platform bolt. I hear they already have squeak issues.

After thinking more about it Im not gunna do that idea. If anything I could keep a couple steps on me to put on the strap if I feel I'll need them for the setup.

How has the one sticking been going? Have you been doing it in bulky clothing?

It's been working very well. I'm using a cut off Hawk Helium with an @DaveT1963 style aider. I've been out everyday and I live in northern Michigan (yesterday the windchill was 15F) so yes to the bulky clothing.

I put a couple steps on my predator strap too. I love it. It gives me another position to sit or lean in. And i just like being able to get around the tree easier. I did have a problem getting the Predator tight enough with the steps on it’s strap. So much so I made another strap with two steps.

How did you fasten that second strap to the tree?

I had this at first too, I solved it by caming it over then uncam it lift the predator back up to original position and retighten the strap....this has completely solved the issue for me

What are the dimensions of this predator platform? I could see liking the option to change leg positions on a long sit just to mix it up a bit.

any problem caming over or loosing with this set up? I have single strap ameristeps but really didn't want to cut the straps. Yet if this is really working Im totally down to try it. Being able to step to the sides is awesome.

Most times things stay tight once cammed over. Sometimes once you put some weight on the steps you'll pull some slack out of the stap loosing it. I just recam it and it's solid after that. I'm never really putting my full weight on the side steps. Mostly used to manuver( one foot on the step the other on the platform). What's really nice is when sitting or leaning you don't have to sit with your feet and knees so close together. When sitting I'll have one foot up on the step. When leaning it's nice to have your feet on both steps and just lean on back and relax!
