Predator XL first hunt

Last night I had my first hunt in the predator xl. I definitely like it. My tree was a smaller hickory (I believe) about 60 yards in from a standing corn field. The XL dug in well to the tree and took side pressure really well. The newer traction points work great. I did notice some minor popping at times if I took pressure off of the platform. Easily controlled with foot placement though. It’s definitely a winner. (I did end up shooting a buck, but that’s another story)

Ended up hitting him a little back, and he ran onto a neighbors property. I was finally able to get permission to track onto his property this afternoon, so I’ll be searching tomorrow. Very unfortunate, but just hoping to find him at this point.

Good luck tomorrow. If legal and you are in a bind, deer tracking dogs work well. Probably good to give him time for a possible liver /gut hit.

I was able to put my tag on him. Unfortunately the meat was a no go after all that time. Pictures weren’t really the priority given the elapsed time. Here he is after boiled and cleaned up.

Sorry to hear about meat but at least it will go back into the food cycle.
