Preset anchor hardware?

Hey everybody. I’m looking for feedback and input. Brand new to the saddle hunting and tried the search function, but couldn’t find what I was looking for. I’m planning on climbing SRT and doing a bunch of presets where I elk hunt. I tried to put some up while I was doing trail cams the other day. Most of the trees (Doug fir and Nobel) in the area I hunt the branches slope down and away from the trunk. Some had no branches at all. I spent a lot of time with a throw bag, and was quickly humbled.
Instead of just looping around the backside of the trunk with paracord, I was thinking of climbing with sticks and setting a rock type anchor with a lagscrew attaching a tri-link and running cord loop through it. Or running a short piece of chain around the trunk (just over a branch) with the same tri-link and para cord loop. I was still going to make sure my rope girth hitched the tree when setup, so I guess my anchor doesnt even need to be rated.
Am I overthinking this? Is there easier ways I’m overlooking? Also thought about a single eye screw on the back of the tree with cord ran through it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just use the lag bolt/screw.....no need for a tri-link or chain. Once you pull the climbing line over the lag with the paracord and girth climbing line above it, your set to go.......lag won't let the girth slide down. Maybe I'm missing something?

The other option is to use a Lone Wolf Climber seat to climb/platform and rappel down when done (some good videos on YouTube). I do this on Aspen trees that are tall without limbs in the Colorado mountains. Don't need presets for this method.....but it is a bit slower.

Nope your not missing anything, I was just overthinking it. Have you ever run into an issue on larger trees where there is too much friction on the back side of the tree and you can’t set the girth hitch, or it sets low and sets further (slips) as you climb? Some of the trees I’m hoping to use are 8+ circ Doug firs that are pretty grippy.

Generally, pine or evergreen trees are sappy. The friction can/will be higher, but the positive is that girth slippage is a non issue......generally. Personally, I always girth above some sort of stopper (branch, knot, bolt, etc...). On an Aspen tree, or other slick-bark trees, I ALWAYS use a branch. I’m a chicken and my family still loves me....so I have to come home alive or they would kill me!

If u are climbing with sticks to put in a lag bolt in the tree why not just climb with bolts? Am I missing something?

Not missing anything, that’s certainly an option. But that’s a lot of bolts to buy, pack and set if I’m gonna do a dozen or so presets for this area especially is I’m gonna try and get them all 25ft. It also leaves the option to use a climber on the tree later if a buddy wants to do a full day sit.

Very true. I’ve used screw in steps for years on tree stands and hanging cams, but even with pre drilled holes (still lots of holes to drill I think a preset paracord loop would be faster and less weight to carry. Especially if I end up sitting and calling in half a dozen trees in a day.
I do appreciate the suggestion, as I continually overlook simple solutions when I’m trying something new
