Congrats on the deer!!

I've been playing with this in my head. I'm going to weld some support tabs to add rigidity and this should do fairly well! I may weld it to the step its self too.

Congrats on the doe bj139. Fellow SE PA hunter - do you hunt public land? I like your aluminum platform, great ideas. New to this, just made a wooden platform after standing on Primals for 6 hours last Saturday.
I know what you mean. I stood on a Primal step on Saturday for 6 hours also after my wooden step was wobbly. The feet don't feel good standing on those standoffs. I didn't see a thing on Saturday. I have been thinking about the aluminum step for a while and quickly did what I was thinking about doing on Monday while waiting for the hot weather to break.
I got the doe in nockamixon State park. I had only seen deer there crossing the road before.

Nice. Some ubolts should fasten the wires to the step. I am not sure if welding would alter the heat treatment of the step.

I found I couldn't get my step really tight because the aluminum piece will not allow the step to get close enough to the tree before camming. I will cut out a section of the middle back to allow for tree clearance.
Edit: I just looked at my step and can't understand this. I will try on a tree tomorrow and analyze the situation.

I did this and it can be made much tighter. I cannot cam it over if I tighten the strap all the way just like the original Primal step. Maybe I shouldn't have cut as much off to serve as a gauge as to how to set the strap.

Here is the video showing how it was today.

Hey, love this diy platform idea. I know the thread is old. But maybe it will come across your screen. Having a hard time finding 1’ of that extrusion, or an equivalent. Buying it in longer lengths gets spends for a project. Any tips on where to find it? Thanks!!

I don't really know where to find it in shorter lengths.
