Might have to pull that up once I'm in the tree!
I gotta believe that 225 limit is well below the actual break weight. But it will be my butt if i weigh 226 and it breaks, for sure!
Somehow Wild Edge is able to claim 350# on their product while this one only dares to claim 225# and it takes some searching to find that out.

Let us know how it goes!

I wondered if the weight rating of the V step was related to the strap they use.

They look good for a cheap platform. I was thinking about going that route but I'm 130 lbs. If (and that's a big IF) the weak point is the strap, you could probably swap it for rope. For all we know it could be thinner, weaker material used for the step itself.

I’m currently tinkering with a wooden platform for the Primal V-step. It's hard to get super tight but I think if I trim a little more wood off then it will.

One BIG plus is that the wood is perpendicular to the tree and easy to stand on. I remember seeing that a lot of the wooden platforms built on Wild Edge Stepps were at a slight incline towrds the tree

Is there adifference in the steps themselves that you attribute that to?

I’m not sure honestly. I don’t personally have the Stepps, just the primal ones, but it seems like thats been an issue for some people on here

Have you removed the straps and added ropes? I was thinking about getting some and buying wild edge ropes to put on them for a platform. I know I have seen a weight rating of 225lbs, but that has to be related to the metal hook on the strap.

No I left the straps on. I like the idea of being able to secure the platform to the step to limit its movement in the tree. Doing that would make it really difficult if not impossible to use the Stepp knot. I got it up in the tree this morning at my in-laws and had the wife take some pics.

I was able to easily cam it over and it was pretty much perpendicular to the tree. It held up really well to side loading from either direction but keep in mind I’m only 170#.

Please excuse my cheesy grin and camo crocs lol

How did you attach the platform to the step?

I just used the two holes for the standoffs like the other guys have. Still thinking of how I will secure it, will probably use a U-bolt or a hose clamp. It doest have to be weight bearing but just enought to keep the board in place when not standing on it

How do those steps attach to the strap? Do you have to feed the strap through the cambuckle or does it clip/loop into the step somehow? From the pic, it looks like each end of the strap is fixed to the step.

I bought a set of these off a guy an replaced the straps with amsteel in a few. However, I’m thinking of keeping the straps and cam buckle on at least one in order to made a more permanent/stable version of the wooden platforms a couple of guys around here have been making
I've looked around on here and perhaps its my poor search ability but I have not been able to find these wood platforms. Do you know where the post may be? Or what the concept is? I'm guess thick plywood attached to the step somehow?

The straps come factory installed to the step. You’ve gotta cut it to get em off.

Maybe search “DIY Steppladder platform” there’s been quite a few threads in the past month on em
