Primary attachment GriGri+

I know a lot of y'all use the safeguard as the primary attachment from tether to bridge. Is there any issue with doing the same with the GriGri+ in toprope mode with 9mm or 10mm rope? I'm wondering if toprope mode relaxes the spring enough to basically be held when there is little to no tension on the rope, like the safeguard.

I use a grigri + with canyon c-iv. When unloaded, it will release and slide. I simply slide it back up towards the tree and ease back into it until it locks. Really is smooth for rappelling. I haven’t found a way to get it to stick in place when unloaded like a safeguard.

I use grigri plus as my attachment. It works great! In fact, I like the grigri much better than the MR Safeguard. It works for me.

The fact that it unlocks when deloaded makes it scketchy for a primary attachment in my opinion.

EWO recommends an autoblock above the grigri+ to hold it in place when unweighted…
