Proof of Concept

Do u plan to reinforce the seat to tree stand off area at all or u think the plywood is good enough? Without having some kind of adjustment there like the jx3 bar that sticks out between ur legs u will be limited to the trees u can use it in

I am going to try an aluminum fork cut from a scrapped road sign first. If that isn't stiff enough I will cast one from scrap aluminum.

I did something similar with some yacht rope (wasn’t harbor freight cheap but wasn’t that expensive either) only I ran the 4 corners and cut teeth into it on one side to make a platform. It worked pretty good but the wood wore out quickly. If you do use 2” seatbelt webbing to reinforce it, it’ll take some stress off the holes around the ropes. I like the ingenuity here.

So I added a bunch of threaded inserts then a "it will do" cushion. I made a boxed cover from the only camo fabric I could find within an hours drive.

Some climbing rope, carabiner, home sewn straps and a quick test in a tree.

Again....I am only testing at a foot off the ground. Please don't judge my quick knots. Also I would never sit higher unless I had a redundant tether to a waist harness.

Now I have a working tree seat that I can further refine.

I can tuck all the webbing in and fold it up. Scavenged an old Army duffel bag? For the shoulder straps.

Packs nicely on my back and weighs 12 pounds. That is with solid 1/2 plywood bottom and back.

Can it be improved...heck yeah!! But I slapped this together in a few days.

Would I sit in it as is?...Yep..Tethered to a tree to a waist harness in case the seat fell out from under me.

Don't think I can shoot a bow as is but a crossbow or rifle/shotgun is definitely doable.
