Protecting 1/16" wall sticks?

For those who've used 1/16" wall aluminum tubing for sticks, is it necessary to use some sort of insert or bushing to protect the walls where the bolts pass through? I only weigh about 160, and I'm sure that's one of the considerations in judging whether or not it's necessary.

I would recommend using them. I got mine from Mcmaster Carr

I used them as well. I’ve read a lot of guys haven’t and have had no issues, but they are easy to add and I like the reassurance.
