Prussic Help

I decided that I want to use a prussics on my lineman's and bridge for adjustability. The Beal Jammy seems to be out of stock everywhere I look. I read that the Sterling Hollow Block is not appropriate for this use, as it should only be a backup to a rappel device. How do I verify that the loop I'm buying is safe/appropriate for "live" usage?

Which ropes are you using for your LB and bridge? You also might want to include the rope type for your tether also. Your hitch cords or loops will need to work well with the Dia of your rope and the ropes construction.

8mm rescue tech for my tether, 9.5mm climbing rope for the lineman's and bridge for now. (Likely going to oplux/rescue tech for that too)

From my understanding Resc tech and Oplux are very similar, but I am not an expert on rope. I have found that 6 MM Sterling TRC hitch cord works well on Sterling Oplux. Sterling recommends TRC for Oplux. I like an eye to eye cord instead of a sewn loop so I can use the Schwabisch hitch instead of a prussik. Prussiks are known to hold well but are hard to break loose after you've weighted them.

The two loops you referenced are just nylon accessory cord with a low break strength, the GM is a suspect company in my opinion, the sewn areas on their products are longer than most US company made loops and hitch cords.

I would personally tie my own friction hitches with TRC, if you are confident in your abilities that is.

I use Oplux for my tether and Resc Tech for my bridge. Beal Kevlar for both. I tied my own to get the length I wanted.
I tied eye-to-eye loops rather than a prusik loop on the tether for ease of removal. schwabisch hitch on both.

But it appears EWO has Beal Jammys in stock.

You might be happier with your 9.5mm rope for your linesman. Oplux is awesome rope but it's really soft and limp. That isn't a great combination for trying to flip your LB up the tree...

Tell us what you are using for the main ropes and their diameters. Also, you probably won't be happy with a prusik long term and will likely go to a distel or something more exotic. Also, I wouldn't buy anything that you trust your life to on Amazon. It is like Ebay now, with scammer, counterfeit goods, and rip off artists. It doesn't matter what the seller's rating is. Go through DanO at EWO or somewhere like wesspur or other arborist sites, REI, backcountry, moosejaw, rope.com, or the like.....people that get their stuff directly from the maker or reputable dealers.

6mm trc, I would just get the sewn eye to eye trc from eastern woods outdoors

Cruzr has the sewn TRC hitch cords, EWO has Probe in a 6mm sewn cord.

I agree! I like a tight weave, rather stiff 11mm for the linesman.
