Question for arborist

I have a tree motion evo and would like to add an adjustable ridge with out using any mechanical.. I have seen pictures and quick shots in YouTube videos using hitch cord . Is there anyone out there who would be will to show pictures and descriptions?

I'm not familiar with that harness but as long as it's load bearing points you attach to, you could just girth hitch one end, put a friction hitch on it, and then use a biner to attach on the other side.

I'm also not sure if anyone is using strickly accessory cordage, you'll be fine if you use rated rope and hitch cord like you would a tether.

Hopefully someone smarter than me will chime in here

First picture is how Edelrid uses a hitch, the bar for a strap bridge would be an easy place to tie a hitch on the Evo.

A bit, I’ve tried a co-worker’s Evo. Flew an original TM for a few years, then switched to an Ergovation from Buckingham, really like it. Got a TreeMotion SuperLight I still climb with sometimes. Looks like big difference on the Evo is the lower Ds.

There’s now a new TreeMotion Pro, and also a light version. If you zoom in a little on the side profile of the lower Ds, it looks like there’s enough open holes to run 3 bridges.

It would be very easy to make the bridge adjustable on the treemotion evo. Unhook one side of the bridge, purchase an 8 or 9mm cord and tie on a schwabisch or distel run your tag end back through the metal ring plate and it’ll act as a prusik tender for the hitch as well. Or as mentioned above, if you want maximum strength and minimal weight it’s hard to be an adjustable amsteel bridge

This is what I used briefly, and decided I’m perfectly happy with a single fixed length bridge. I just put this together with a CT rigging plate, but picture that hole on the plate as the hole on your lower D. That’s a Kong Slyde, and when the rope is set like this, it locks the rope in place, you can adjust it one handed, but you have to take your weight off it to lengthen the bridge so you can feed slack into it. Really simple.

This is very much like the positioning lanyard (aka lineman’s belt to the saddle hunters) I learned from my trainer and climbed on for the first 3 years in the industry, except that was just an oval carabiner and a screw link. I’m kinda surprised I don’t see anyone using it, I’m certain it’s safe, I’ve trusted my life to it for many many hours, and so did my mentor who started around 1990. With a biner and screw link, I can use 1/2” arborist rope, the holes on the Slyde are a bit small for that. That’s 3/8” or 10mm cordage I have on the Slyde.

I actually hadn’t heard of the Slyde until Brocky showed it to me after I posted the biner and screw link lanyard on TreeBuzz. Really neatens it up.
