Question for experinced saddlers

Mine breaking was more my fault 1. I didn’t move the prusik down before rotating 2. I put to much weight on the S biner they are only rated for 5Lbs. 3. Inexperience. I simply upgraded to a Cleat clip rated at 25 lbs lower the prusik problem solved. I tried to run it off the tether biner it does not work for me when you rotate it back brace will not rotate with you. Your back slides in it. Connected to the bridge with the prusik lower you can rotate and everything rotated with you. I would recommend changing the S biner out for some little stronger just because of the low tolerance to weight or pressure. Other than that nothing needs changed. I’m going to tweak and add a few things after I hunt from it a few times just to make it mine.

I’m a bit worried that the prussics will come undone on the bridge while I’m not using the back strap.... what do you think @Boudreaux

I had one come off. Now when I unhook the back band I leave one of the S clips hooked to the prusik, then I slide both prusiks together and clip the other side of the S clip into the other Prusik.

Good idea for sure. What do you do with your back band then when it is not in use? I have been rolling it up like Boudreaux ...

This is another reason why I use a spliced Amsteel bridge. My back band prussics can slide nearly all the way to the Saddle loops since there are no knots to get in the way. I use 100 lb braided fishing line for my prussic cord. It slides very well on the Amsteel but locks up once you load it.

My back band goes in one of my dump pouches on my left hip when not in use. But mine is DIY and very small. I don't think my storage method would work very well with the Aerohunter version.

I replaced the the plastic S biners that came with the back band with Nite Ize S biners. I took one of the plastic S biners and hooked it to the Molle webbing on the saddle. After I remove one of the Nite ize S biners and clip it to the prusiks, I roll up the back band with the end that I removed the S biner from sticking up in the middle of the roll, that leaves the other S biner on the outside of the roll to connect and hold it in place. I then take the strap sticking up in the middle and attach it to the plastic S biner on the Molle webbing and hang it from my saddle. Not sure if that makes sense?

I haven't hunted out of it yet, but it has worked well walking around and climbing trees for practice. I plan on hunting for the first time tonight.

Yeah it makes sense, so basically you do the same thing (roll it up with one end with biner sticking out) but you have other biners and still use the plastic biner to attach the 2 prussics when not in use.

What I used is cleat clamps. The end of the pursik go into the cleat so it stays on the pursik all you then do is clip onto back rest. Which I keep Rolled up in back pack

Not exactly, I roll it up but the end that is sticking out doesn't have a biner on it. That is the biner I leave on the prusiks. The plastic biner stays on my saddle and I attach the end sticking out to it but, your way would work to.

I snapped one of the stock sbiners today on my Kestrel. Replaced with a biner from Home Depot. :fearful:
