Rappel device testing with oplux

I've been using my atc to rappel even when I have my safeguard with me bc it's much more smooth for me. Descending with the safeguard just seems awkward and jerky. I've only used 9mm htp so far but will probably go to oplux at some point. Sometimes I use a separate tether, sometimes i clip a Kong above the safeguard and remove it. Seems like alot of unnecessary gear but the safeguard twists and makes rappelling uncomfortable for me

Put an autoblock in conjuction with the Safegaurd...smooth as butter.

Autoblock above? I couldnt get that slow continuous descent with it. Like the handle is either all or nothing then the rope gets in the crack binding it up. How safe would it be to use a kong duck in place of a safeguard for ascent only? I tried it with a rm1 once and only once...cant remember why.

An autoblock goes below your belay device and hooked to a lineman loop in our applications. I use a Jammy wrapped as many time as I can get it. Open the Safeguard handle all the way. My descent is then controlled with the autoblock.

For me, putting a hollowblock under the safeguard, like I do with a atc, just made it worse. The rope twists and gets wedged in the device. Atc w/ 35cm hollowblock (autoblock) works waaay better for descent. Only time i use my safeguard is ascending when srt.
