Title pretty much sums it up.

For rappelling from a tree, is a sewn eye best for the tether or is a figure 8 good enough? I've climbed and rappelled plenty of time from a figure 8 but those have always been from a carabiner and and anchor point. My worry is that it'll roll on a tree trunk. However, it's far more expensive to get a sewn eye and there aren't many places that'll do a sewn eye with the rope I want (Sterling CI-V).

Thoughts?

Potato potato for me bud, sewn eye packs up cleaner if you aren't tying and untying every trip, but that was my biggest issue with figure 8. Make sure to add a stopper knot though.

Check out Arbsession for a sewn eye. great people to work with and reasonable pricing.

Why not run a triple fisherman’s to the carabiner or a delta link instead?
