Rappelling with oplux

Any issues using a figure 8 or rescue 8?

I shorten up my bridge and run 8mm through a figure 8 to my schwebash hitch, which I clip to my right side lineman's loop. I control it with my right hand and have had great luck. My accessory cord is 5.5mm beal jammie cord from eastern woods.

I thought about doing a rescue 8 so I could lock off but this isn't necessary with the schwebash acting as an autoblock.

I simply tighten my bridge a bit, set my LB, transition my FH down the tether far enough to unclip it from my bridge and clip it to my LB loop, pull out my figure 8 and put it in the system and clip that to my bridge. I'm untethered for a bit, but I see this as being no more risky than climbing with just the LB.

Ditto! I will add that due to carrying the @mtsrunner pocket hoist with me now, I sold my Doyle's hoist and will use the end of the Oplux rappel rope for pullup and the dynaglide for the hoist to double as the pull down for the rappel rope.

What is this pocket hoist you speak of and the dynaglide?

What length do you use for your autoblock?

I use a 4’ section that I tie a figure 8 on each end. Makes it rather short. I could get away with a 40” accessory cord

Another good knot is the poachers knot. I get away with running 36" that way. Not that the extra foot will break the bank.

It's a micro pulley hoist to use in the woods to bone out your deer, everyone should have one! Dynaglide is extremely small and light, 1000lb throw line, but works for the hoist really well.

Is there a link to this pocket hoist? I'd like to check it out

Sorry, didn't realize there were more posts after this. Thanks for the link

Any issues with Oplux not creating enough friction in an ATC?

It's definitely "slippier" than what I expected. I added an extra wrap (4) onto my klemheist and can slow and stop decent if needed that way.
