I know you guys are doing the hook on the strap with a OCB. Has anyone done it with a ratchet? I just sewed one up and boy, that certainly would solve the problem of having to thread the strap through the slot. 20180413_165011.jpg

Yes, that is what I do. Then either put a sewn fold-over or a buckle on the tag end after it goes through the ratchet so it doesn’t pull out accidentally.

I tried that but didn’t like “throwing” or “dropping” the end around the tree with metal attached to it. I thought it would clank. My original climbing sticks were like that. Mess up with gloves on and it could get loud.

Good tips. Thanks! Loop not only stops it from coming out but now I can hook it to my harness for the climb.

How much does that setup weigh? And after covering the steps, do you get any noise? Trying to figure out step/platform options for this year.

If memory serves me correctly, the brackets weigh 3 or 4 ounce each. The bracket is the heaviest part. The whole thing is probably 2 lbs.

I cover each bracket with a half of a sock for transport to keep them quiet. It weighs a bit under 2 lbs. Going with a lighter duty bracket would make it lighter.

What are those brackets? I've seen a few videos and posts with you talking about them but I can't find those brackets. Where do you get them?
