Rattlesnake from tree... I hate Mississippi..

I don't kill em unless they're poisonous and in my yard, or I'll use the hide. I've got an awesome 6 foot canebrake I'll use for a self bow or something one day. She tried to hit me on the ankle but was too lethargic from the cooler weather. I would've been in a real bind if she connected and pumped me up. I was about a 2 mile walk from atv, and another 20 minute ride to truck, and 20 more to cel service. Funny thing is, she was closer to my face at one point than she was my ankle, as I was basically scaling a sheer ridge. Had her head in a chipmunk den hunting and I kicked her up. Flung her head out and around and slapped my boot sideways. Couldn't even muster up the energy to rattle at me or coil up. After I made sure I didn't poop myself, I gave her a ride to the house.

They're just out there trying to make a living like us. Seems silly to be afraid of them, and then get in your car every day with all the yahoos staring at their phones or yelling at their kids. But I guess one of those we're wired to be spooky of. Killing them indiscriminately seems silly.

Less than 10,000 people a year are bitten by poisonous snakes. Less than 10 a year die.

If you're scared of snakes, I wouldn't go outside with a thunderstorm within 50 miles, get in your car - ever, drink water while walking, climb a tree, walk on sidewalks when it's below freezing, etc...

Sounds about like the Covid. I guess the things we don't know much about scare us the most.

Copperhead accounts for the highest# of bites but has the least toxic venom... Most toxic venom in north america is from the coral snake.... They are rear fang and small snake...small mouth so it will need a small thin skinned area to inject venom...they may have to chew on u for a bit.

I see a venomous snake on almost every single hunt I've ever been on and the only time I've ever been struck at was when I was messing with them. I have been within inches of stepping on them and never struck at

Last hunt I saw easily 20 rattlesnakes in 2 days...they always out sunning in early season. I always get excited seeing them.

I do admit....it a little unnerving when u inbetween a moccasin and his escape route...I had a rather large 1 scare me when he took off to try to get to the safety of the water but I standing in the way...

I've taught my little ones whenever they see a snake to stay calm and be respectful and things will be ok...calmly walk and get me or mom. We have moccasins fairly often around the house and I relocate them to a nice block of woods a couple miles away.

Side note...venom is extremely valuable. I don't know the ins and outs of it as far as safe handling and who to sell it too but I've read a relatively small amount of venom can be worth thousands of dollars. U can milk anything with tits.... hahahah

My dad worked in the golf industry his whole career....I know of at least 5 incidents of employees at the course being bitten and they were dry bites. The snake has to voluntarily choose to use it's venom.... nonvenomous snakes are the 1s who just strike like crazy

This girl was about 5.5 feet nostrils to rattle. Little smaller than the other i referenced earlier. This one took up shop right outside friends camp, and struck at one of the dogs. Maybe I’ll use this one for some cool saddle accessories...

@always89y what would a timberpimp do?

This video isn't exactly about rattlesnakes and I know I posted it before on SH but it a good 1....

IMO this info represent all our north american venomous snakes....they just want to be left alone.

I’ve been having an itch to move north for the last couple of years, mostly because of the weather honestly... but these are a close second on list of reasons...
