Has anyone had any luck finding a packable and quiet puffy style jacket or vest?
Either down or synthetic, it doesn’t matter to me, just searching for some models that aren’t super loud and that will pack down smaller than a the soft-shell alternative.

Kelvin active is what I've been using for a couple weeks now. Quiet and packable.

I don't know if it considered "puffy" but the m-65 military surplus jacket liner might be worth looking at.... Might be close to what ur looking for.

I have a Kuiu one (super quiet) and some from Kryptek which are also quiet enough to wear as an outside layer for bowhunting.

I want to say the Kuiu one is their Kenai and the Kryptek ones i have may not be available anymore as they now have the Cirius and Lykos but if they’re similar to the 4 yo stuff i have it should be quiet.

But the Kuiu is imo the quietest out there by far. The Kenai doesn’t make a sound.

Sitka celsius is nice but not super packable. Their old shacket is a touch more packable/lighter; some folks live or hate that piece.

I have a first lite uncomphagre hooded lofted jacket. Not sure how packable it is, but it is warm, comfortable, and quiet

Stormy Kromer button vest. No collar and made out of wool.

Mountain hardware kor and Patagonia nano air have a more quiet shell than most light insulated garments. They come in a vest or jacket.

I bought this one, https://www.outdoorresearch.com/us/mens-transcendent-down-jacket-268085#eyJvcl9zaXplIjoiNzIifQ__ earlier this year after trying on a similar Eddie Bauer one at Scheels and could not believe how light they are and how warm it was. I got the OR jacket on sale and I liked wearing it so much shortly after I bought another puffy from a member here, https://www.plythal.com/products/down-jacket that also I really like. I use the OR jacket as my every day going to work jacket now and I'm going to use the Plythal as a warming layer when I go out hunting in two weeks. The OR uses a two sided zipper on one of the side pockets that allows it to double as a stuff sack. I jammed the Plythal in a small bag that came with a microfiber towel last week and its about the size of a normal Nalgene bottle now. I also tried on a Gerry down jacket at Costco after buying the Plythal so have as a third option and maybe keep in the truck as an emergency jacket but figured two puffys in one season is enough. The Gerry was definitely worth the price and would be a good option to see if you like them.

If you want the option of wearing it as an outer layer, the Celsius Midi looks like a great choice. I don’t have one, but the Primaloft Silver insulation is legit. It’s packable, warm and doesn’t wet out as bad as real down.
If you are going to wear a soft, quiet layer over it, your options are almost limitless. I have a REI brand down puffy that I got on clearance for $33 that is quiet enough to wear under my outer layer and packs down in its own pocket down to the size of a Nerf football.

How’s noisy is the Plythal jacket, and how does it compare in noise to the other jackets mentioned?

I'd say it's slightly louder than my OR jacket but not crazy loud. The Gerry seemed to be about the same as the OR. But I didn't spend a ton of time wearing it.
