Has anyone bought and used the red moon calendar from deer society? What’s your thoughts on it and do you think it’s worth $25

Just when you think a whitetail is predictable, it isn't. You never know plain and simple.

It is available on an app now and definitely helps to a degree. Your boot work and cam intel will be the biggest factor, hunting the moon just helps add to the cards.

I rely on the prior season camera intel and hunt around those sightings (for mature bucks). They hold true for the most part year to year.

Find out what the peak conception period is for your hunting area and then look at the calendar for the full moons on either side of that period. Be in a tree as much as possible for the 4 days on either side of the full moon, esp on high pressure. If the full moon falls in the peak conception period and you also get high pressure, sell everything including the wife to afford to hunt the 8 days around the full moon.

I've heard the moon helps I've heard the moon phases don't help. I've never bought into it. Charlie Alshiemer of Deer & Deer Hunting Magazing used to use moon phase predictions and he even wrote like two books about it. In my experience, so many other factors and variables can enter into the equation that I doubt it is valuable but with that said, I have always recommended that hunters should do whatever makes them feel confident while hunting and in the woods.

I bought it last year and didn’t seem to notice anymore deer movement on camera than usual. Look into Jeff Sturgis book All Weather Whitetails. Weather, food and sex gets them on there feet.
Yes about the Sturgis book. Excellent information and which is consistent with my experiences. Even in the warm months, when there is a temperature drop, you can see the increased movement on your game cameras.

The moon guide has been very accurate for me. It always amazes me how accurate it is sometimes. I have also had days where it is not as accurate but it is usually always close. I have killed two bucks that have been with in 45 min of the red moon times. a mature wild animal is almost always hard to predict but the moon guide does help.

John, would you mind expounding on that "no way"? My observations have been on private ground and lightly pressured public the lunar cycle is surprisingly accurate. Obviously on highly pressured ground( lots of public and a fair bit of private) pressure can and does override otherwise normal movement patterns as far as broad movement but deer will still move with the cycle within the confines of heavy cover.
