Rewriting the script...

Hi Everyone,
We are still working on finalizing and testing our saddle platform. Once we get though this busy season we will be starting a pre order special on the platform as soon as we begin production. I cannot wait for you all to try it out!

As far as the conversation goes of the media behind hunting today it is something that continues to frustrate myself and the Wild Edge team as well. Hunting shows are not what they used to be, these days watching a hunter and a camera man in a scent proof, heated box blind shooting 200inch deer over a lush food plot seems to be the norm but that is not the case for us here on this forum and it is not something you will see the Wild Edge Crew doing on our new hunting films coming out on our youtube channel soon!! Run and Gun is what we do and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Wild Edge is now partnering with New Tribe to bring all of you saddle hunters the best saddle hunting packages on the market to include the SteppLadder and the Kestrel! Stay tuned for discounted deals and promotions! We couldn't be happier to be working with the best saddle company out there and we look forward to bringing you all new products that will allow us to continue doing what we love to do!

Thanks for all of the support! You guys are awesome!

All my best,
Andrew

I'm happy it hasn't become more popular actually.
If it were; there may be many a more hunter encroaching into the areas I head into now pushing me farther in.
I really like the community here. A smallish group of guys/gals who love what we do....HUNT.

I agree with your thoughts also. Call me selfish or whatever. It’s taken me years to scout and find mature bucks to hunt on public and I’ve done it the hard way. There is something special about hunting an area open to the public that most people are too lazy to get to and you know the chances of being the first and only person there are high. Which that said, I’ve tried to turn a couple of buddies onto saddle hunting and they just are not interested. So be it. I love it and will never go back to carrying a stand or hunting from the ground.

I agree with this, I almost don't want more people to know, especially where I hunt. Heavy pressure and limited areas

This a great thread and something that comes up many times when I talk to hunters from all over the country. Hunting has become a big business with the focus on promoting their products as the means to the end a big buck! All of the shows anymore are glorified infomercials with basically the majority of the program devoted to video and pictures of the equipment with a closing kill and the TV personality saying he couldn't have done it without the new blah, blah, blah... How is it that every year the new bow they are using is better than the bow they used the year before? Or how about the guy who has been shooting brand X bow for tens years and said it was the reason he was so successful and gets offered a better deal by bow Y and now it's the best bow on the planet!!!??? They are selling equipment period not hunting nor the values that are important to be a good hunter, like hard work, practice, attention to detail, and most of all perseverance.

To me, hunting is so much more than just killing an animal or the size of the horns, it is all the time, effort, and just being outdoors with good friends and family. I have sat in the pouring rain Turkey hunting with my buddy Mike and laughing at how crazy we were, no sane Turkey hunter would even be out there in that kind of weather! Hunting to me is all the things that go into the final result, not just the final result itself. Many of the most memorable times I've had I came home with empty hands but a full soul from the experience. Good equipment is great but it can never make up for hard work, hunting smart, and perseverance. All qualities that I think most saddle hunters have in common the desire to think outside the box and take the time and effort to go the extra mile! Will we have our own TV shows or be showered with expensive gear by sponsors, probably not, but those are not the things we desire anyway. We will be the guys getting in the woods first and coming out last, sometimes with an animal and most times not, but always with a full soul and a happy heart.

Good Hunting To All,

Roger

I'm new to saddle hunting and everyone here has been a wealth of knowledge. Why is it that there are not more use is out there. It seems the idea of hunting from a saddle is looked down on. Everything I have read and learned up to this point tell me I will be able to hunt those areas I only wished I could with the traditional treestands. Do they have there place...absolutely. I think there just isn't that drive to push it like the more commercialized treestands. You don't see David Blanton,Michael Waddell, or Bill Jordan hanging off the side of a tree. Can't wait to see what future holds.

Justhangingaround,

I think that Michael Waddell did use or try the Trophyline Tree Saddle at one point I remember seeing pictures of him and a short blurb about it. Maybe some of the other guys here will remember that as well. I used to follow Myles Keller when he hunted with a recurve but then he switched to a compound and I couldn't understand why? When I went to a seminar that he did at a local hunting and fishing expo I asked him why after the seminar was over and he said that the compound company gave him a better deal. It seems like when it comes to this stuff most of the time whoever can offer them the most money they will go with them every time. I think that is why the small companies even if they have a superior product can't always get the exposure that the bigger companies can.

Good Hunting,

Roger

When I first started hunting which was not long ago started at 30 now 36!! I watched alot of tv shows as i did not grow up in a hunting family. My first year was tough trying to emulate what i had been viewing. After 70 hunts with no harvest success i started to branch out reading John E’s books basically sent me on a path. I realized that alot of these shows are on farms solely managed for big deer most of the deer are so comfortable that human prescence is no longer an issue. To fund the cost of these farms or properties they use a host of products which are marketed to everyone. They all can prove useful at some point but just as are prey evolve so do we. However there are times when we get caught in the details and forget the simple things which are all we need.

Saddle hunting has some physical aspects to it but hey no matter what its no worse than dragging a deer. Its just not a socially acceptable or known at this time. We know the pros to what we do. I think the future of saddle hunting falls in the hands of those who will not commercialize it and keep it true to hunting and the beauty of nature. Promote it in a way that keeps the ethics and the truth in it. We as a group tend to do this pretty well, we never say its easy and it shouldn’t be, its a hunt, a fight to outsmart a quarry bred to survive all obstacles.

Those hunters or people who want to hunt that want it easy are not the people i tend to surround myself with. In six whole years i worked my butt off to shoot the 20+ deer turkeys etc. I have learned through my failures and throughout all the fires this year have emerged and found my place. I sold all conventional treestands and blinds. I am now a mobile saddle hunter. I have had more success this year in seeing and shooting game. Won’t ever go back!!!
