Riders! MABDR

As someone who never owned a motorcycle I'm curious what is the list of stuff u would take on a long road trip? Off-road trips I take tools for repair, recovery gear, extra oil/atf etc, charged jumper box, spare ujoints, hilift jack, etc and I'm ready for anything. Obviously with a bike u have to have bare minimum due to limited storage space.....what is ur preparedness/emergency essentials and how to u configure on ur bike?
Number 1 on the list is a Cuban coffee maker. That'll get you through pretty much anything.

Funning aside, for repair gear we're taking extra tire inner tubes and a patch kit, tire inflation means, tow straps (Amsteel of course), extra gas, siphon hose, appropriate wrenches and bits, and chain lube.

I was able to ride the Harley Pan America at a demo and I rode an Africa Twin too. I might just become a true Adventure rider yet. They're fun bikes! There was a guy there actually trading in his R1200GS on the new H-D. I better wait a few years and buy a trade in though, yikes on the price!
When do you guys leave for the trip? I have to live vicariously through others motorcycle trips this summer due to the baby on deck.

I use a stovetop espresso pot...only makes 3/4-1 cup at a time but smaller than a percolator, much more rugged than a percolator, 2 pieces that mechanically screw together so no lost lids, and it boils fast...can't recommend enough

Well isn't that just hilarious... love you a good cup of Cubano too huh? Knew I liked you for some reason. :D20210526_080413.jpg

We'll be starting the trail next Wednesday morning.

And CONGRATULATIONS man! Love babies bro!

My wife just corrected me. It's not a Cuban coffee maker, it's an espresso maker. We just use Cuban style coffee in ours.
So that coffee is grown on a farm were the bushes own the means of production, distribution, and exchange? Is it red? Hopefully the water rations are up......

All coffee is equal but some coffee is more equal than others

Bought a sheepskin the other day to use as a seat cover/cushion. Put some good ol fashioned saddlehunter skills to work by sewing an elastic backing strap on it (goes under the seat). Worked out real well on my 80 mile shakedown ride. Getting more ready!

Also got a chance to finish up my brother's new knife. Hope he'll be pleased!

God is good!

Stopped after 3 hours of riding for lunch in Roanoke. While I was eating my burger outside, beside the bike, I looked and saw oil spray all over the radiator... blown fork seal. Drat. Can't continue, can't backtrack home. Called a nearby repair shop and they said I could bring it in in about 3 weeks. Called the nearest BMW dealership (which happened to be 3 miles away) and they said they could overnight the seals from their warehouse and have me back on the road tomorrow. Now I can sleep in tomorrow morning in a free, comfy hotel bed (had enough points to stay for free) and hit the trails a bit later in the day instead.

Like I said, God is good! :D20210601_203553.jpg
