Ridge runner vs mission

I’ve had a RR, a Predator and now have a Mission. I still own the Predator and the Mission, sold the RR. Like others have stated the RR is excellent build quality but I just could never get used to consistently getting it set just perfect, especially on smooth bark softer trees... it would always want to kick out with side pressure.
I’m gonna switch back and forth between the Predator and Mission depending upon the hunt, the hike in, etc...

Just decided to pull the trigger on the mission. I try to budget as best I can on hunting (and to keep the wife happy) so I’m gonna be selling my RR. Anyone interested before I put it on classifieds, let me know or DM me. Never been hunted with. Have only owned it for about a month.

Same. Mine will probably end up in the classifieds. The Ridge Runner just seems kind of clunky compared to the mission.

Yeah I can see that a little. I still think it’s a cool platform but now that I know more what I like in a platform, the mission checks nearly all of my boxes. So... “can’t take this feeling anymore” know what I mean?

If you decide to sell your RR, I literally just sold mine in 5 min not even an hour ago today. Didn’t even make it to the classifieds. They’re hot right now, good time to do it.

I can confirm they are in fact “hot right now”

Ended up selling my RR and replaced it with the mission. Dudes.... it is heavier but man is this thing awesome! Stand or lean however you want on this thing and it’s not going anywhere. I feel like I can do so much more on this thing that I was uncomfortable trying to do on the RR. I love the shape of the edges for side leaning and LOVE the top step thing.

I’m basically treating my Mission like a mini stand. I put XOP backpack straps on it and have figured out a pretty good way to get either my Beast sticks or pack of Silent Approach steps on one side, and my knee pads and a very small pack on the other. When I have to pack some layers in later I will lash them back there as well. I’m going to run the mission and Predator this year and evaluate what I like better

Curious how you’re going to deal with the bump on the bottom of the platform against your back. I’m not worried about it because I will either carry the platform in one hand or strap it to the backpack on the way in.

I carry the Mission with the post facing down, which puts the hump at the top. The XOP straps are nice because they are wide and have the ability to cinch them up snug under the armpits. This for me is key because it puts the stand high on the back and puts the hump between the scapulas on my back, and for me I’ve found this to be fairly comfortable.

Cool. Makes sense. I have some spare backpack straps I might have to try something like that.

Yeah the key is to get straps that allow you to cinch the stand up so it rides high

I figure I can carry around 15lbs this way before it becomes too much (Mission 6 lbs,3 beast sticks 6 lbs, knee pads one pound, small pack two to 3 lbs)
