Used mine this weekend and was happy with how quiet it was.

I understand the metal twang from it hitting things. As I hung my DIY platform yesterday evening I was thinking to myself this has got to be the loudest thing in the woods and scared everything for miles. But I had deer feeding on acorns directly under me with in minutes of getting set up. I think its more of an annoyance to us than an actual alarm bell to them like we think.

I have no sound issues using my Ridge runner. I also forgot the original strap on opener weekend and used some spare 5.9 mm power cord and that worked great for me seeing that was the only was i as going to be able to use it for the weekend.

I wrapped cloth camo tape around the outside ring and then wrapped some Paracord around that. It quitened down it if I bang it on something and gave a little grip to the outside edge. Great platform!

GA Hunter: Looks like u have the newer adjustment bolt which is longer as I understand than original. Is it worth the extra expense?

The only issue I have with my ridge runner is that it's so grippy and rough it's wearing on my backpack a little. I've been looking for some kind of sleeve I can slide it into to get it to stop eating my backpack. Other than that no complaints at all. I love the platform. I have them all and it's by far my favorite and gets used every hunt

I just received mine a week ago, it came that way. I hunted 4 sits this weekend, in 3 different trees and never adjusted it either way.

I have. I figured out that if I adjust the ridge runner and have it slightly canted up a little more than usual it bites even harder into the tree. The mounting bracket on the ridge runner seems very superior to the common platform post. I've never had it slip on any tree.

I put a thermal pad between the RR and my pack so it's not tearing up the pack up and it stays tight to the pack, ( need a proper hunting pack still).

I am obsessing on how I am going to attach it to my stone glacier pack in early season. Definitely don’t want to have it rub against my pack. Still trying to figure this one out.

With my cheapie cabelas pack frame, I just strap it in. Not concerned with the pack frame.
