Basically nobody sells unsafe harnesses, so it is just a matter of finding something relatively comfortable. All the major companies sell good harnesses in the $50-$70 range, the black diamond momentum or bod and the petzl corax or sama come to mind as ones people have liked (I have the momentum). If you have an rei close I would just go try on some and see what you like.

IMHO The best harness out there is one that comes with a Summit climber that has the linesman loops built in. Absolutely fantastic

I recommend the Black Diamond Alpine Bod. About as light and minimalist as you can get. $50 on Amazon.

IMO - They are all "safe" if they have climb rated tags on them, inspected for wear or defects and are used by manufacturers standards.

Remember though, a perfect harness will not save you if there is a flaw in the mechanical attachment, rope, knots, or anchors.

CLIMB ON!

Safety first.

Black Diamond Couloir (7.5oz) is even more minimalist than Bod (14oz)

Works great & super light
