The SH Membership has gone live. Only SH Members have access to post in the classifieds. All members can view the classifieds. Basically nobody sells unsafe harnesses, so it is just a matter of finding something relatively comfortable. All the major companies sell good harnesses in the $50-$70 range, the black diamond momentum or bod and the petzl corax or sama come to mind as ones people have liked (I have the momentum). If you have an rei close I would just go try on some and see what you like.
IMO - They are all "safe" if they have climb rated tags on them, inspected for wear or defects and are used by manufacturers standards.
Remember though, a perfect harness will not save you if there is a flaw in the mechanical attachment, rope, knots, or anchors.
