Rock Harness question

I was looking at the BOD harness today and noticed that they use a plastic buckle (at least it looks that way online) on the leg loop. The leg loop on my climbing harness has a metal clip. I was always under the impression that the leg loops provide support in a fall, but that would not seem the case with the BOD harness. Do I misunderstand how a harness works? Does all the strength and support come from the waist if there is a fall? Pete

In a fall the weight is distributed mostly opposite the tether so into your rear the glutes and hamstrings. There is a continuous connection of webbing from the back that hooks into the waist belt where you should be attaching your tether. The plastic buckles merely adjust the fit there and don't really bear the weight.
