I've never seen this type of cam buckle before. Are any of you guys using them? They are advertised to get the strap tighter and hold better than the cam buckles we've used for eons. These might be better for ROS, stands, or sticks.
Anyone have any experience with these?

I saw that link on a paddling website. Ive been using the same Tule straps to haul my canoe for 20+ years. I think its time for new ones so I am gonna get a couple of these.
I thought that these may have some great applications for saddlers.
Maybe Thetrd could offer them.

I like the Idea of a roller instead of friction against a bar. Price is competitive also. Looking forward to your comments after trying it out.

I'll share some comments when I get them, but I ordered a couple for hauling my canoes. My application will be a little different than using them for ROS, or other tree use. But I will give an update when they arrive.

Seems interesting. Would love to hear some reviews from folks that purchase!

I wonder if the roller is loose and makes noise when moving around?

They don't rattle. The straps arrived but I have not had a chance to try them out yet, but I can definitely say that they won't rattle. The thumb button rests against the roller and holds it tight and quiet. If you push the release, it would rattle very slightly, almost silent. But the button would never be pushed until the strap is threaded, so noise is not an issue.
My initial impression is these are high quality cam straps. I have a busy next few days but I will try them out as soon as I can and I will get back to you guys. And the Expedition model's strap is a dark grey. Looks acceptable for hunting. It's not blue and it's not black.

Thanks, interested to hear how they do.

Sounds promising! I wonder how tight the webbing gets when using it on a set of climbing sticks?

I finally had time to try this on a tree. I put one Treehopper step on the strap. I did not have more steps to add unless I undid other ROS which would have been a bit tedious.
So take this for what its worth...
The Roller cam and strap easily got nice and tight on the tree. I stepped on the step and it seemed to remain fairly tight, but it was an extremely short test. I can't say how the strap material that the cam comes with will continue to perform with prolonged use in various conditions.
A couple thoughts about this...
I do believe the Roller cam itself is a better cam than the standard style we've used for eons.
This place does sell just the cam without the strap so you could use your own straps with this.
Also, the cam strap I bought was just a cam buckle and plain strap (no loops) so I could not try it out on gear with versa buttons (or my Predator) so I can't comment on that either. I have had issues with the stock Predator buckles being almost impossible to release. I think I will get some Roller Cams with the looped ends, which are available in several lengths. If the strap material has a low stretch factor, it will probably be an improvement over the standard straps that Tethrd puts on their platforms. I'm optimistic these will work great with the way we tighten a Predator strap as we cam it over. I think we will be able the get the strap very tight with less effort.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this new product for a variety of stuff we use cams straps for.
I'd like to hear some opinions from other guys when they test out their's.

Ordered a couple today with the hope of using them with a pair of ameristeps on either side of my OOAL Scout platform. A regular cam buckle doesn’t get them tight enough so I’m hoping this will. I have and use boat buckles (OCB) but I don’t love them. Fingers crossed for rollercam....
