Rookie Saddle Hunter.

Ok gotta ask...As I’ve said I haven’t received my Mantis yet. But I am impatient and started swinging around the oak in my backyard with a swiss seat, and a climbing stick. I’ve come to like the one stick method. I don’t see much issue just using the top of my climbing stick as a platform. I have the mobility for a shot. Will using the stick work for long hunts?

Welcome to the site

Not sure what a Swiss seat is but the top of a climbing stick will work. It isn’t the most comfortable. It works better for sitters than leaners. You can put a piece of hardwood behind the top step and make it more comfortable but it won’t take any type of pressure except straight on. Meaning it will likely move if you try to use it to walk around the tree.

I second this sentiment. My first year I one sticked and used the top step for my platform. I mostly sit for longer then 4hrs at a time with all day sits being regular. The top of the stick is uncomfortable after a period of time but in the interest of simplicity and money savings my first year that was the way I went. Good luck and welcome to the site!
