Want to ditch the stock strap and buckle. I very much like 1/4 amsteel...but some say that it does not stand up to abrasion and you need to mod the button with a fender washer and 3/8" vinyl spacer.

Question 1: is 1/4 amsteel ok?
Question 2: is modifying the button a must?

Thanks so much for any comments.
 
I've had no issues with my buttons or 1/4 amsteel. 5 hunts in. Several more climbs in the yards.
