Rope choice on stick.... for one sticking

So 3/8“ to1/4” Amsteel full bury looks to be a popular choice.......... Are you guys running this into a cam cleat? Are you making an eye loop and just girth hitching around the stick post?
I’m using 1/8” amsteel with a locked Brummell and a full bury.

how I attach this to my stick is simple. I take the bottom step and standoff off my stick post, then slide my stick post into the locked Brummell eye. Reinstall step and standoff and that’s how my rope lives on my stick.

Is anyone who is not using a versa button (just girthing around or tying to the post) doing anything to prevent rope wear? Maybe it’s not a big deal. I’m just wondering if the square tubing corners are abrasive to the rope when it’s pulled tight?
