Rope mod for platforms

I've been doing this for 3 years now (approx. 250 attachments with the same piece of amsteel). I just don't think there's a simpler way to get your platform rock solid on the tree using just amsteel.

Our kids had us over for a belated birthday celebration and I was gifted with the Vital Ground PSH. There is a video showing how to tie it up prior to use, but mine came all ready to go with a couple "castration bands" as well. I just need a break and access to a decent tree to give this a go. The USA and HFAS both look like suitable options as well, but I am hoping this PSH works out well. It is very lightweight, yet the Amsteel is thicker than any I've owned previous.

You'll love it its sooo easy to use. Secret is though that you can use any amsteel daisy chain, or even just a spliced eye on a amsteel line.
If you find it slips at all, just tie a slip hitch at the eye with the tail and it'll hold even better.

This has been an easy set up and queit to carry in. My platform really bites the tree.

An OCB, has been perfect for my setup. I made a small amsteel cord with looped ends. Put one end on the platform button, wrapped it around the buckle a few times then put the other end on the button. It keeps the buckle attached to the platform. Using the strap that came with a looped end, I keep the OCB threaded and just toss the looped end around the tree and put it on the button……ez peezy!

This season I’ve been using a USA rope mod with a Blake’s hitch to hang my platform. The camming action pulls the friction hitch so tight that it doesn’t easily release. So I’m gonna try a prussic with the USA. But I think I’m going back to using the timber hitch. It’s so simple, effective and light.

I love this idea and want to make one for my predator platform. Where are you guys buying your amsteel and would I want amsteel blue or just amsteel? I know with safety equipment I want to buy from a reputable dealer just not sure who to go through. I would like to try and start making my own ropes like this for future replacements so i would need the fid tool as well.
