Ropeman and Grigri Plus for single stick

I have a couple of ropemans I can leverage too if the hollow block isn’t working for me. Excited for this to all come in so I can give it a go. Be nice to leave my other 3 sticks at home. I hunt the N. GA mountains and hiking a couple of mountain miles can be rough so I’m always looking to save weight wherever I can.

I use a rope man to ascend and switch then hook up the original GriGri to come down. I may try an auto block next year above the GriGri to use one device. I wasn’t happy with the GriGri unloading when one sticking which is why I started using my rope man to climb. Being able to use one device to climb and come down would be ideal though as I use my rappel rope the entire time and switching over when hanging from the tree in the dark is a pain.

so grigri unloading is the first reason I’m not climbing with it but then I think about the silencing that it requires and then management to not clink on things and managing the extra rappel rope, and I’m happy (for now) climbing with my regular tether and a hitch.
 
I have both the Safeguard and the Grigri+. I got the Grigri+ because I couldn't get the Safeguard to work as smoothly as I wanted. The Grigri+ works very smooth. Now when I was tying to get the safeguard to work smoother I bought several different ropes. I have Predator, Oplex, C-IV Canyon , Sterling HTP and others. I've used the Grigri+ with the Predator rope and I think it was the C-IV Canyon. I noticed the Grigri would creep down without weight on it on the Predator so I threw a Cong duck on it. I left the Grigri on the rope but moved it to a linemans loop. I didn't notice any creep with the other line. Still playing to see what I like best. I have tried the figure eight with an auto block but I don't really care for it.
I was climbing with a tether and then switching to my rappel to desend but realized that if anything happened switching to my rappel line would be a royal pain so now I climb with my rappel.
 
^^^ I'm trying to see the purpose for moving the GriGri to a linesman loop?

Just so it's still attached to your rope but just follows you up as you climb???

No, once I noticed it creeping at height I added the cong duck above it. I took the Grigri off my bridge and attach it to my linemans loop just to store it. When I was ready to go down I took the Grigri off the loop and put iy on my bridge removed the duck and rappelled down.
