So obviously I'm new to all this and I keep seeing everyone talking about a ropeman, my question is why are they so much better than a prussic and are y'all using them on the tree tether or linesman belt

You can use them on both your treat tether and lineman’s belt.

The biggest advantage the rope man has is ease of adjustment. You don’t have to fuss with your prussik knot to adjust length.

The one disadvantage however is more metal hardware.

honestly the benefit and ease-of-use outweighs the disadvantage.

Its one handed slack management. Grab the tag end of your tether/linesman belt and pull up and the ropeman moves up the line to shorten your linesman belt/tether

As far as noise, the rope pins it in place and it doesn't move, rattle or make any noise. Ive never used one with small carabiners though

Even with small carabiners, they don’t make any noise. The noise potential is actually LOWER because the adjustment is so easy to make.

The only issue I have had regarding noise and the ropeman is the ropeman accidentally hitting other biners in my setup, in particular the bridge biner on my kestrel.

I have considered dropping that and going with a fixed bridge on my kestrel but it have to say it is really nice to be able to unhook the bridge.

The bridge biner is also prone to hitting your linesmans belt. I’ve gotten used to stepping into the kestrel and don’t miss the bridge biner

I use them on my bridge and on my tether. I like to have a adjustable bridge and I had two of them so I just used one one my bridge.

I have 2 a ropeman1 and a ropeman2, they have different rope sizes, forget the specifics. 1 is 10 to 13 and 2 is 8-13 I think, can someone back me up here? Ropeman 2 has teeth, I use it on my lineman belt or as my ascender for srt, because I don't use a lineman belt when I srt. Although it's kind of a pain to swap back and forth, might have to start carrying the ascender again.

I use my ropeman 1 on my tether

Yes ropeman 2 is rated for smaller rope, 8-13
