ROS or Platform ?

I'm new at all this. I went for the platform. Had all day hunting comfort, and I don't have any problems shooting 360 degrees.

I switch back and fourth between the two I have a preadator and ameristeps, the ameristeps pack up better.....I tried wild edge for a platform I will say with confidence I do not like them for that use only for climbing.

What do you dislike about using them as a platform?

Can't wait until a few more people try out the quick release (OCB) buckle and strap I'm supplying. I'd like to get some more real world feedback. It is basically the same buckle that IMMI has but without the plastic cover. It also has the vinyl hook on the strap end so should be the lightest possible strap for a ROS.

Finally had a chance to try out the OCB and strap from your website. Last hunt of the season for me so bitter sweet. Here are my thoughts: ease of use was excellent. So much quicker, lighter and easier to pack than the heavy duty ratchet strap I had used all season. I use 5 bullman silent steps and was able to get them almost as tight as the heavy duty ratchet. I could just barely get the buckle to cam over. There was just a slight amount of play on the steps at first but once I put my weight on them they were perfect. I want to stress the amount of movement was very slight and may have more to do with the unevenness of the tree or my inexperience using this type of strap, or both. I did have a fairly loud metal click when camping over as well as when I released it. Not sure if that can be minimized with a bit of tape but will experiment in the off season. Way better than trying to keep the ratchet quiet. Overall I was thrilled with how well it worked and plan on using all of next year. If I didntneed so many other things I would certainly be trying your steps as well. Thanks

Thanks for the review, appreciate it.

First timer here, I bought the Squirrel steps and the strap they sell. I Just got my Tethrd Mantis last week and after hunting off my top stick and enjoying the new experience, I wanted to give a ROS a try. They arrived Saturday and that evening I was up a tree with them. This was my second time in my new saddle and first time on any ROS. They were extremely easy to install and I didn't feel that they moved much after initially stepping on. I believe I could have cammed the buckle a bit tighter, I didn't over do it by any means. I liked the ROS method. I felt it was very versatile and moving around the tree was pretty simple. I have messed with enough ratchet straps on hang on stands to know I would prefer this boat buckle over them any day. I'm glad I went with this option because it fits the style of hunting that I bought the saddle for. I have nothing to compare these steps too, but I believe the fact that a new person adjusting to this style of hunting can set up and feel comfortable speaks for itself. I'm certain these will be the death of a few deer. If any of you are looking for a platform, check out the squirrel steps and strap.

I just purchased the OOAL scout and was wondering if anyone uses a ROS in combination with the Scout?
