I am curious because I haven't seen any posts about it or pictures; Can you use one strap to hold the platform up and also have your ring of steps on that same strap? Is anyone doing this? It looks like it may work if the strap attaches at equal height of the platform, or slightly above.

What I am considering is using is Bullman ring of steps on the same strap that would hold up an Out On a Limb Pre-Set Solo platform. I haven't purchased either but I can get the steps local to me used and cheap and the platform isn't that much.

Are there better options(platformwise) to go with these ring of steps to achieve what I am after?

***disclaimer, I have never been in a saddle. Just purchased a saddle and looking at my stick and platform options. Fairly certain I want at a minimum ring of steps and potentially a platform as well.**

I use an angled scout on the top of my beast stick and a 3 squirrel steps on a separate ocb strap. I like the added distance away from the tree I get with the top of the stick platform vs the solo scout.

Yes, can be done. Have used bellman steps and trophylines on strong-side or both sides of platform, but found never really utilized them much. Don't have on my mission, that platform is big enough as is to not warrant

The answer is yes. The second answer is call Eastern Woods Outdoors. Tell them what you are wanting to do and they will tell you which strap and steps you want. If the person who answers the phone sounds like they are from Alabama, that’s the expert known to many.

Can you you completely take the weight off the platform and walk around the tree on the ring of steps?

There has been several threads that discuss it.
I add 1 Treehopper step to the Predator strap and I place it on my strong side. On my weak side is my top step of my sticks or bolts. I find that I only need those 2 extra steps.
Adding more than 1 step to the strap complicates the process of trying to be quiet when unwrapping, and wrapping the stand before and after the hunt. Also complicates the entire process of setting the stand and speading out the steps along the strap.
I see no real need to add more than 1 step to the strap. One one the strap and one as your top climbing step is sufficient.

Not very well. Platforms remain seated better if yo have at least a little bit of weight on it.
The more you repeat the "weight on, weight off" the platform during a long hunt, the more likely the way the stand sets on the tree will start to get a little funky

A top step platform and ROS is the way to go IMO. Been doing that for several seasons and love it. Tried the predator twice and I much prefer the top step platform and ROS for packability and mobility around the tree.

If you're using climbing stick(s) and a separate platform you can set up so that the top of the last stick is placed on the backside of the tree from the platform and then you can easily step around to the stick from the platform to achieve a "walk around the tree" without any other steps necessary.

Eastern Woods makes a special ROS called the slotted squirrel step that will slide onto your platform strap. If you have a platform get you 2 or 3 slotted squirrel steps and you’ll be able to be comfy and walk the entire tree all at once. I have this set up and I absolutely love it

Don’t tell him that Nicholas is the “expert” lol that’s just wrong  @Nutterbuster the expert! I’m thinking he should change his name.

If you haven't purchased any of it yet, you still have time to try a ROS by itself. You can always add the platform later if desired. I use a ROS and have no intention of getting a platform. For me the ROS is just fine on its own. Everyone has different preferences. But it might be worth trying out.

I haven’t purchased anything yet. The ROS is only $30 going to pick it up tomorrow. So maybe I will give it a try first before a platform. I am going to be using my lone wolf full length sticks until the tethrd one sticks are back in stock.

I use my top WE Step as another place to put my feet. You could probably do the same with just about any steps or sticks you happen to be using.

I used 2 steps all of last year with my platform, but I'm adding one more to the back side for this year. I used the plastic bullman steps and always have to spin them while setting up with the radius slot which I grew tired of. I have some hawk monkey bars for this year. Having the option to stand up on the platform and adjust the saddle or tether. Also being able to rotate all around the tree with solid footing. I don't like the way of dropping a knee into the tree to pivot. I like to have my legs fully extended pushing away from the tree. I feel more confident in my shooting abilities that way.
