ROS VS PLATFORM

If you don't have a ROS incorporated into your system you ain't doing this saddle thing right. You might as well just use a lock-on. The whole point is to hide your body with the tree and shoot completely around it. You can't shoot 360 degrees with enough stability to be accurate on a tree much bigger than a volley ball without a ROS. Pirouetting like a ballerina on a platform to get a shot is a good way to get busted and/or make a bad shot.

I use a two panel as well, Overwatch Transformer. It is great for sitting and leaning.

That may be a slight overstatement. But, there's no reason not to include an ROS in your kit. They pack down small, add very little weight, and provide a lot of flexibility and options. The return on investment on an ROS is immense. Especially if you get a used one for cheap.

Absolutely....In my opinion also!

How many hunters love a ROS or use it often? Platforms are great in their own right but doesn't a ROS make mobility of a hunter somewhat more efficient as well as hiding from deer. With the new ROS options available and 2TC system it seems a very good option for long walks but I have not hunted from a ROS yet ......I hope for input from both sides.
I'm all about my ROS. Platform is optional for me, but ROS is necessity. BUT... I started saddle hunting in 2006 & no one used a platform. My preset trees would be 3/8" bolts in the tree & mobile setup was sticks or cranford screw ins. Sorry, I know I'm replying to something a few months old, but I've been running & training for ultra marathons the last couple of years seriously & have not hunted any the last 2 seasons. Just getting back into it! I love the ROS for concealment tho, if deer start coming in from a direction I wasn't expecting then I'll just spin my tether around to wherever on the tree that has me facing incoming deer, but has the tree between me & them. Or sometimes if I set up in the morning & don't pay the best attention to what direction I'm facing & the sun is blinding me I'll move around the tree some or if it's cold & windy & I'm in a decent size tree I'll move so the tree blocks the wind.

I used my ROS exclusively for a couple seasons and loved them...super easy to throw in pack and never had an issue with comfort. Last season when i started playing with one stickn i got a scout platform for my top step and now i rarely use the ROS. When\if i do, i have slimmed it down to 2 steps i use with my scout platform just to have an extra side step (usually bigger trees). I agree with the always have them comments being made and mine are always in my pack whether i use them or not...
