Saddle comparisons

Like I said before, all my aerohunter saddles are in a tub.... they were too bulky, restricting and noisy..... I saw ZERO comfort difference between them. My four Mantis saddles are washed, modded and waiting for next Tuesday. I could hunt with anyone of them ( AH or Tetherd) as I like both companies. But I choose to hunt with the Mantis as it fits my style of run and gun, packs up very small, and it is quiet. And if that wasnt enough, which it is for me, my final reason is Greg and Ernie. They were part of all the DIY days, are long time saddle hunters, and Greg is a brother in arms.

Ok, time for the stalkers to start swarming again.

FOUR mantis saddles???

I don’t know what y’all are talking about some of these saddles bedding comfort... my sit drag feels just fine, even for all day sits!

I’m worried if I ever decide to upgrade, I’ll sleep through most of the season!

@DaveT1963 is working on his saddle and trail camera addictions....
And by “working on” I mean he is dedicating more time and money into them each and every week!!! Hahaha

This.

So on my to do list. Existing truck is a crew cab with only 5.5' bed. Doesn't fit my 6' length. Actively hunting for a trade.

So many cool YouTube videos on truck bed camping.

Look at alu cab. Expensive for what it is but good for short beds.

I have a large mantis and I love it. I love it when I walk in, and I love it for all day sits. That's a lot of love. Everything is stock, and it fits like a glove ( for your ass). I never bought another saddle because I don't see the need. I like the fact that it's light weight, but I love the fact that it's comfortable all day. I may be one of the few lucky ones that have found and perfected the systems that work for me. I spent this whole off season fiddling with my gear only to go back to the way I hunted it last year. It seems I have found climbing and hanging nirvana.

I think the preferences of one brand over another comes down most to how you use it.

If you are primarily a sitter, you will tend to prefer aero hunter.
If you are primarily a leaner, you will tend to prefer the Mantis.

I am DEFINITELY a leaner. As mentioned above, I have found no comfort issues with a sit drag, which a lot of guys can’t come close to tolerating for all day sits. As such, I will be going with a Mantis when/if I ever buy a commercially made saddle.

I’m lean and sit. Really liking the Mantis but it’s the only saddle I’ve tried. Recently got the Recliner for it. While sitting I place the recliner just under the saddle and it is very comfortable to sit in now.

Personally I have tried the kestrel, mantis, JX3 and every Trophyline made (I think) lol. I liked the kestrel, but once I added suspenders and pouches to me to was not worth leaving my leather TL behind so I sold it and got my money back. The mantis was not for me, the weight saving is not worth being uncomfortable, which it was for me. The JX3 is simply put, impressive and it has a place in my arsenal. Turkey seat for sure. I am now waiting on the new TL to release cause that is where it all started for me and I have always found the most comfortable. Comfort trumps all for me.

I think my body was built for the saddle lol. I have spent extensive time in the Kestrel and Mantis and to me I can make them feel the same. I am just fine in the Sitdrag as well. There's tricks to each one and you for sure can't wear them all exactly the same and expect the same results. I think some guys are sizing too big as well. I have a hard time in a large Mantis wanting to slide on me. The medium is no issue and more comfortable to me. It's hard to know what to go with tho unless you can try several on which is a problem for most guys.

I'm curious to know what body type you are? Height and weight for starters? I'm short and stocky and went with a size large mantis, and although it's comfortable I have a feeling a medium might be better for me. I'm 5'7'' 170# and a lot of it is in my legs and glutes. Just trying to figure out if i should order a medium mantis or other brand in a size smaller just to give it a shot.

I only have the Kestral and I love it I will wear that thing anywhere! I would like to try out some others just to know. I doing some saddle research and was wondering if anyone knows how many saddles types are available and in production currently anyone know?

I'm 5' 11", 180lbs. Fairly normal as far as build I guess lol. I'm not athletic, but not a couch potato either :D I don't have a butt to speak of and around a 32" waist.
