This may be a silly question, but does anyone use their saddle for turkey hunting? I normally sit against a tree on the ground or lug around on of those short legged fold up turckey chairs. I'm ready to incorporate my saddle! Please share your tips and tricks!

If so, what size of tree do you target?

Do you make to much movement in a saddle for it to be effective?

I'm really considering giving this a try come April.

Thanks for any input!

Here in Al you cant hunt turkey from an elevated position, not even a shooting house that's off the ground. Check your game laws.

Didn't think about that, good suggestion. Will definitely check into it. I wonder if that still applies if your feet are physically touching the ground...Thanks

We have the same rule here in Michigan but I'm planning using the saddle this year while standing on the ground. I'll just tether in with my feet at ground level. What a great way to hide behind the tree regardless of which way the turkey approaches from. The tree also provides a great rest.

I have almost always used a large tree on the ground for cover and a guidos web
I have killed several turkeys at less than 10 yards with decoys in front of me
I sit close to the ground push back stand and shoot
They often see me at the last second but too late boom
I am no expert hunter or long time hunter but it works for me

Was thinking the same thing, using my saddle like the sitdrag was designed for. Seems like it work will on a steep face or other spots that are tough to find a place to sit.
