I’m curious if anyone is/has used this lone wolf seat from Amazon for a platform? If so, what do you think about? Give some pros and cons so I can make a decision. Thanks!

Just buy one. I tried to use the seat from my Lone Wolf Assault 2 stand (I put a millennium m7 seat on my Lone Wolf because their seats are complete trash and really only good to stand on anyway) and here I now sit....Tethrd platform in hand.

Have a brand new Lone Wolf Seat sitting in my garage along with a brand new Lone Wolf hand climber....then out came the purpose built platforms and that ended the Lone Wolf mod effort. The platforms built by Out On A Limb, Trophyline and Tethered are better designed for the saddle platform use and are relatively inexpensive in the grand scheme of things.

+1 on buying a purpose built platform. I've been using half-baked platforms for years and decided spring for a TL Mission this year. Um yeah, no more wasting time and money trying to make junk work for me. There's a bunch of great platforms on the market now. Pick one and rock on. Spend the time hunting instead of fiddling

If you can find a 1st gen Lone Wolf Assault (look up a Klemz platform), those seats work great because they have the teeth built into the seat like many common purpose-built platforms. I got lucky and found one last fall for sale on Facebook. I put a new Lone Wolf seat back on it so I now have a platform and a usable Assault, if I want to hang a stand.

There are too many affordable platforms on the market nowadays to try and rig one up DIY. Save your money.

I was big into diy back in the day. I bent the LW seat using it as a platform. I then switched to xop seat and stick and continue to use it today. For me it has advantage over whats on the market, but some of the advantages the purpose built modern ones have is appealing. When i saw the LW one in the video review I said sold. Then I googled the price, pass. These companies see a market and are ripping us off. No reason a platform should cost more than a full size treestand. Granted I haven't priced out a new treestand lately, maybe those prices are higher now.

Platforms are generally made out of more expensive material than climbers. Most climbers are made out of tubing and gloried expanded mesh.

Lone wolf assault 2 is $259 and the lone wolf saddle platform is $299
No cushion, cast seat, cables. I might could see $200.
You're comparing lone wolf to lone wolf custom gear. Theyre not the same company. The lwcg stands are $500 so the saddle platform is much cheaper.

I wasn't aware they are 2 different companies, but if you can't see the similarities and associated cost, you won't understand the price gouging.

There's going to be "gouging" in any kind of niche market. Without it, you'll never have a commercial platform we are getting. There's more to a product than just the raw materials and labor. The equipment, insurance and every other business costs ads up.

Prices may come down eventually if competitors start competing on price rather than quality.

It’s not really “gouging” I mean that’s the price. If you don’t wanna pay that just don’t buy it. If Tethrd had started selling the predator for like $75 you’d never be able to get one because they’d always be sold out

Simple supply demand is going to keep prices up for a long time, especially with the lockdowns.

There's always two resistance points on the supply and demand curve. Low price for seller and high price for seller. Somewhere in the middle is the happy place for both buyer and seller.

They’re on back order still which is why I started out with this one I’m trying to make work. I would have definitely rather buy the predator than trying to rig something up.
