Do you prefer saddle over hang on with trad gear? Is it easy to shoot from versus stand?

Those are good questions, and kinda difficult to answer, because it depends on A LOT of variables!

I prefer my saddle gear over my climber (I have a Treewalker) in most situations:
-safer, since you are always connected to the tree
-much lighter & easier to carry thru the woods
-almost no restrictions on what type of tree can be climbed (leaning trees, trees with branches, big "twin trunk" trees, etc.)
-learning about different climbing methods, knots, ropes, mechanical devices & gadgets has been extremely interesting for me

As far as if it's easier to shoot from a saddle vs hang-on, if the hang on stand is placed exactly where you want it, and you're set up to shoot at the primary area that you think the deer will come from, (and the deer actually comes from that direction, ;)) then I would say that it's just as easy, but initially it would be harder until you get used to having your tether in front of you and learning what your personal preference for tether height on the tree is. If the deer comes from an unexpected direction, I believe that I have more options to take a shot if I'm in a saddle.

As with everything new, there's a learning curve, but for me, I found that the learning curve for shooting from a platform stand was shorter than shooting from a saddle.

There’s pros and cons to everything. I’ve used a trad bow from a saddle without any insurmountable problems.

Serious note, I am more accurate in a stand with a trad bow, mainly because I shoot more on the ground and dont get enough saddle practice time. But most of the guys here are fine with a saddle, some like the fact that you dont have to worry about hitting the stand with a longer bow.
