I am a newbie and would love to connect/learn with other local saddlehunters near Chicago.

Maybe we can connect for a couple hours at a forest preserve near the city this summer?

FWIW - I grew up rifle hunting in Northern Minnesota and am looking to bowhunt some Illinois public to fill the freezer. I am currently using a RCH/Fleece saddle and a modified set of Hawk sticks with an attached platform. I also have a LW Alpha II that I use for longer sits.

Here are some options in the attached Poll:

I know it's not "close" but there's a get together planned in Michigan in about a month. I keep thinking about driving out to one of these things, they seem like a good time. Been one down in Florida and this one in Michigan for a few years now... Both are a bit far from me in Maryland(sleep hollow is about 9.5 hrs), but the Michigan one is only about 3 and a half hours from Chicago!

I'm planning on going down and the drive for me from northern lower Michigan will be a bit over 3 hrs. @movehuntir is carpooling with me and he's another half hour plus north of me. All are welcome to attend @NorthWoodsNovice, we usually have a decent group show up with different saddles, climbing methods and platforms to observe and try.

Thank you @thedutchtouch and @boyne bowhunter! I really appreciate your input.

I have been keeping tabs on the MI Saddlehunter Meetup and was definitely inspired by their upcoming event.

I am a young father with three little kids (7, 3, newborn) so a full-day trip is a stretch for me.
I have no intentions of organizing something big here in Chicago. Just looking to learn a little closer to home.
Worst case scenario, I'll keep testing my set-up in the backyard, shooting target practice, and learning from YouTube.

Thanks!
