Are yal running the safeguard as your main and using to rappel or are yal just using the safeguard to rappel and using a friction hitch when at hunting height?

Safeguard for both. I tie an alpine butterfly below it and clip it to the carabiner.
 
I use the Safeguard for both, BUT I run a discreet tether with a Ropeman 1 in addition to my rappel rope with the Safeguard.
