Same ol same old DIY platform and LW stick rope mod

Thanks, really considering cutting my sticks down so that’s probably next
What are you looking to gain from cutting your sticks down, weight reduction? If you cut them down will you keep the LW single step? It is appears many make the switch to a two step when they cut down.

Weight reduction will be a side effect to my goal. Making it more compact is the end goal. And I think staying with the single step for now will be fine. If I converted to a double step I’d get a couple to try out on the top step where it’s most beneficial for me.

Brought it to work this morning to attach the brackets. Went all the way to the ends, which may have been a bad idea. I’m hoping to get the platform as close to center as possible, the seat kit should be here today and I’ll lay it on there to decide where it works best

Is that 1 1/4” post? And where did you get the bracket?

So updates from this weekends hunts:

1. Platform really REALLY improved comfort
2. Rope mods are definitely my favorite part of this project
3. The provided seat pad with the LW kit makes a decent knee pad.
4. LW strap SUCKS as the platform strap, but will do for now ($).

And today I had to go shopping for new pants and stuff, so my wife drags me to TJ Maxx afterward, a store I despise. The unthinkable happened, she couldn’t find anything she wanted, BUT! I found something for hunting, a bag that seems to be perfect for packing my platform and sticks on. Best part, only $20!

I dread that question. I’m not counting the three LW sticks I already had because they aren’t an additional cost to switching over, I will count the single stick I bought, platform supplies, amsteel, and saddle. That puts me at about $515. Which I didn’t realize I had spent that much, but so far I’m happy with it. I have $410 in my Millennium M7, 3 LW sticks, and a HSS harness that is terribly uncomfortable in early season attire. So if someone were to skip the mobile hang on or climber setup and go straight to a saddle they wouldn’t be in much more. You can also save by buying used sometimes I guess. And I’ll recoup part of my money by selling my tree stand.
